There are a few reasons why your artwork design may not be suitable for printed transfer stickers. __- It doesn't meet our size requirements. __ The solid parts of your design should be at least .08". These are the portions that will adhere to a surface after applying the transfer sticker. If you have areas that are smaller than .08" you can try thickening or enlarging them to meet this requirement. - It doesn't meet our spacing requirements. The white space, or the portions that will be removed from your design should be at least .09". If you have spaces that are smaller than .09", you can try enlarging the space of your design elements. You can learn more about our spacing and size requirements here. __- The design is too intricate. __ While transfer stickers allow for a great level of detail and complexity, designs that are very intricate may not be suitable for the printing and weeding process. If your design contains intricate details, you may need to simplify it or increase the size of your transfer stickers. You can learn about how we might modify an intricate design here. - The artwork resolution is too low. For optimal print quality the resolution of your artwork should be at least 300 PPI at the size you'd like your stickers printed. If the resolution is lower than 300 PPI, it runs the risk of printing blurry or pixelated. You can read more about how to increase the resolution of your artwork here. If your design is not suitable for a printed transfer sticker, or there are areas that need to be modified, we'll notify you during the proofing process.
Transfer stickers are similar to die cut stickers but with more possibilities! An artwork that is too intricate for a die cut sticker might be possible as a transfer sticker. Some other differences include: Die cut stickers Transfer stickers Allows for a single internal cut Allows for multiple internal cuts Made from a single piece Made of many pieces Minimum border of 1/16" Minimum border of 1/32" Minimum bleed of .0625" Minimum bleed of .0295" Paper backing Paper backing plus transfer tape Laminate finish No laminate finish Die cut stickers and transfer stickers are also applied differently. Die cut stickers are your classic peel-and-stick style, while transfer stickers come with a transfer tape that holds the pieces of your sticker together and is removed once your sticker is in place. We make custom transfer stickers up to 15” by 15”. Support for larger sizes is on our roadmap. The smallest available size is 1” by 1”, but artwork must meet our transfer sticker requirements to be eligible to print at smaller sizes.

Our transfer stickers are printed directly onto a durable white vinyl with a matte finish. They are ideal for indoor use and are 3.4 mil (86 microns) thick.
Yes, but we recommend waiting 3 weeks after painting to apply your custom transfer stickers. If you apply your transfer stickers before the paint has set, bubbles may form under your sticker, causing it to peel off. If your design is especially delicate, let it sit for 24 hours before removing the transfer tape. This gives your sticker time to adhere more strongly to the surface and makes it easier to remove the tape while leaving the design intact. (Learn more about how to apply transfer stickers.) Also, be aware that removing the decal may also cause the paint to be stripped. We have found that enamel paint is most compatible with our transfer stickers.
Yes, you can place transfer stickers on windows. If your design is especially delicate, remove the paper backing and apply it to the window, then let it sit for 24 hours before removing the transfer tape. This gives your sticker time to adhere more strongly to the surface and makes it easier to remove the tape while leaving the design intact. It's important to note that we use a strong adhesive, so they may take some effort to remove from a window. When designing your custom transfer sticker, there are a few simple guidelines to ensure the best possible quality. __How do I prepare my file? __ File preparation is completely optional. Feel free to upload your design as it is, and we’ll make any required modifications before sending you a proof. You can also download our transfer sticker template and open it in Adobe Illustrator. What colors can you print? If you are ordering full color printed transfer stickers, we can print your design in any color, and there are no limits to the number of colors your stickers can have. What size should my design be? Before making adjustments, make sure your design is scaled to the correct size. The solid parts of your design represent parts of the sticker. To ensure all parts will be preserved, be sure that you can fit a 0.08” circle within the object. The ‘white space’ in your design is what will be discarded. For any area that is white space, you should be able to fit a 0.09” circle within that space. Can you make my photo into a transfer sticker? Yes! Our transfer stickers can be printed in full color. There are no limits to the number of colors you can have in your design.
To apply a custom transfer sticker, remove it from the paper backing by peeling away the transfer tape. The tape will hold the individual pieces of your sticker design in place while you position it on your desired surface. Once your sticker is positioned correctly, you can press the transfer tape onto a surface to adhere it. Next, use a credit card to apply pressure to the entire design to make sure it's fully adhered. Finally, slowly peel the transfer tape away at a 180-degree angle to leave the sticker adhered. If your design is especially delicate, let it sit for 24 hours before removing the transfer tape. This gives your sticker time to adhere more strongly to the surface and makes it easier to remove the tape while leaving the design intact. Custom transfer stickers are perfect for custom lettering and typography. However, depending on size of the font and overall size of the sticker, there are a few artwork requirements to ensure quality and legibility. Meeting these requirements before you upload your design ensures we can deliver fast turnaround and produce your transfer sticker. In order for your lettering to be custom cut, the solid parts should be at least 0.08" thick (2mm). You should be able to fit a 0.08" circle within the thinnest parts of the letters (as seen below in blue). The openings in your letters should be large enough to fit a 0.09" circle within the white space (as seen below in pink). This also applies to designs that have reversed lettering, or letters that are being cut out of the vinyl. Our custom transfer stickers allow for a great level of detail and complexity. However, some complicated designs may require modifications before going to production. Large transfer stickers can handle a greater level of complexity and detail. Smaller stickers (e.g. 3" x 3") have less flexibility and often require modifications. Just as transfer stickers have certain requirements for lettering and typography so does the overall design. Solid parts should be at least 0.08" thick (2mm) and you should be able to fit a 0.08" circle within the thinnest parts of the design. Similarly, the openings in your design should be large enough to fit a 0.09" circle (2.3mm) within the white space. To create the best product, we may make reasonable modifications to your design before sending you a digital proof. These modifications keep the overall design of your sticker intact, but may remove the smallest details. You can see the process of these modifications in the images below. If our modifications are at risk of changing your design too extensively, we will contact you by email for your feedback or to send us a different version.
No, we aren't able to produce symbols such as ©, ® or ™ because they are too small for us to cut. As our process improves, we may relax this restriction, but, for now, we cannot accept them. If your custom transfer sticker design includes any symbols we cannot reproduce, we will remove them and show you during proofing.
