Great print, weird starched front on shirt.

I ordered a shirt as part of a discount promotion. The printed design on the shirt looks great, but there is a weird feeling on the front that goes up and down the entire shirt. I think it is starched or something to allow them to print on it. After I washed the shirt it was good to go, but that isn't required from shirts in other places. Maybe an opportunity to send the shirt pre-washed or whatever other companies do? Overall was good and I'd consider getting more.
