Our flexible custom magnets are made from iron (ferrite) powder mixed with a proprietary blend of rubber and plastic compounds, then pressed into sheets.
How it’s built (layer by layer):

Don’t let their size fool you—our custom magnets are thin, high-energy magnets with a pull strength of 65 pounds per square foot. In other words, one square foot of magnet material can hold up to 65 pounds.

Our custom magnets have a thickness of about 0.38 mm, or 15 mils (1 mil = 0.001 inches). For reference, this is about the same thickness as our die cut stickers with the backing on.
Our acrylic magnets have a thickness of about 4 mm, or 158 mils, including the magnet itself.
Keep in mind that magnet thickness does not necessarily correlate with magnet strength. The strength of a magnet primarily depends on the quality of the raw materials and the manufacturing process.
With proper care, our custom magnets can last for many years. They’re made with durable materials and waterproof ink to keep colors vibrant.

Custom magnets stick best to ferromagnetic metals—materials with strong magnetic properties like iron and steel (and also nickel or cobalt).
They won’t stick to aluminum, copper, brass, and most stainless steel.
