Dark, Dark Printing and Some Texture Issues

I sued the same files I used for making paper prints for these buttons (which came out beautiful) and the buttons came out just on the edge of readable, branching into to dark and desaturated. The image is printed directly on the buttons, not on paper with a protective cover like the ones I'm accustomed to ordering, so several of the buttons also came out with a bubbly/ pock marked texture. My biggest complaint is that digital proofs don't really show how dark things will print and now I'm stuck with some really dark buttons. They're pretty nice otherwise.
