Custom magnets

Our flexible custom magnets are made by mixing iron (ferrite) powder with a proprietary blend of rubber and plastic compounds. The ferrite powder contains magnetic properties, while the rubber and plastic help create a pliable material. This mixture is pressed into sheets. The front of each sheet features high-quality white vinyl. Each sheet is printed with your custom design and carefully cut to match its unique shape. The end result is a durable, flexible, and vibrantly colourful magnet with your one-of-a-kind design!

Don't let their size fool you! Our custom magnets are thin, high-energy magnets with a pull of 317.36 kg per square metre. This means one square metre of material can hold up to 317.36 kg. That's stronger than most flexible custom magnets on the market today.

In practical terms, this means:

• They'll easily hold three sheets of standard 216 mm x 279 mm paper on a fridge, so you can turn your kid's art into a magnet to hold your kid's art!

• They'll stay stuck to cars driving at highway speeds, so you can boast that "my other car is a bicycle" wherever you go.

Our custom magnets are about 0.38 mm, or 15 mils, thick. For reference, this is about the same thickness as our vinyl stickers with the backing on. Mil is a unit of measurement equal to one-thousandth of an inch and is commonly used for measuring products like magnets and stickers.

It's important to keep in mind that thicker magnets do not necessarily mean stronger magnets. In fact, many of our competitors use magnets that are 20 to 30 mils but have weaker magnetic pull. The strength of a magnet depends more on the quality of the raw materials and the manufacturing process than on thickness alone.

With proper care, our custom magnets can last for many years. We use durable materials and waterproof ink to produce strong magnets with vibrant, lasting colours.

As with any product, a magnet's life expectancy depends on how you use it and its exposure to the elements. Magnets used to decorate your fridge, for example, will maintain their vibrancy longer than magnets on your car, which are subjected to persistent sunlight, rain, dirt, and wind.

Our magnets can be used both indoors and outdoors. However, they do not have a UV laminate, so outdoor magnets may fade more quickly if they're consistently in direct sunlight. To ensure a long life, avoid exposing your magnet to extreme heat, moisture, or chemicals and subjecting it to physical wear and tear.

Custom magnets are attracted to ferromagnetic materials. These are materials that contain strong magnetic properties, such as iron, steel, nickel, or cobalt. Magnets will NOT stick to aluminum, copper, brass, and most stainless steel.

Some common household items that contain ferromagnetic materials include:

• Steel door refrigerators
• Metal filing cabinets
• Dishwashers with steel exteriors
• Whiteboards with a steel backing
• Metal doors
• Washing machines and dryers with steel exteriors
• Toolboxes
• Steel shelving
• Metal beams or frames

The fun thing about designing magnets for household items is that they can be attractive and practical. For example, a refrigerator magnet with a calendar, a "clean/dirty" magnet for the dishwasher, or whiteboard magnets featuring additional white space to write on with a dry-erase marker.

We can accommodate any size, from a tiny 19 mm x 19 mm fridge magnet to a 914 mm x 609 mm magnetic car sign and anything in between. On the order page, we've listed the most common sizes, but you can select the custom size option to enter any custom size you'd like.

• Standard postcard size for family pictures: 102 mm x 152 mm
• Event keepsakes: 89 mm x 127 mm
• Large photos and decorative designs: 127 mm x 178 mm
• Calendars and schedules: 152 mm x 203 mm
• Dry-erase memo boards or meal planners: 216 mm x 279 mm

Remember, your magnets don't just have to be square, rectangle, oval, or round! We can cut your magnet into any custom shape that fits your artwork and design. We can also include one inner cut with these stipulations:

• Your inner cut must be at least 6.4 mm in diameter
• There must be 6.4 mm material between the inner cut and outer edge.

Our magnets have a 317.36 kilogram per square meter pull strength, allowing them to securely adhere to cars and stay put at highway speeds. Their durable material resists rain, snow, and sleet. Made from 15mil (0.38mm) material, they offer a stronger hold, better adhesion, and a more aerodynamic design than the 20mil (0.5mm) or 30mil (0.726mm) magnets sold by many competitors.

Flexible magnets generally won't damage car paint if used properly, but we recommend the following best practices to keep your car and your magnet in good shape.

• Apply to a clean, flat metal surface with no dents or deep curves.
• Remove and reposition regularly (weekly is ideal). Be sure to remove any trapped dirt or debris and clean any moisture that might have collected under the magnet.
• Store flat when not in use to prevent warping.
• Avoid applying over decals or vinyl wraps.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat (such as direct sun), which may compromise the magnet's backing.
