What is your minimum font size?
For most products, 6 pt font is the minimum size we recommend for clear, legible text, but there are some important exceptions based on the material and printing method:
- T-shirts, hats & DTF transfers: Go with at least 14 pt to ensure your text reads cleanly on fabric.
- Paper labels: We recommend at least 8 pt for crisp, readable results.
Fonts can be tricky. Weight, color, and style all play a role in how your text prints. A bold, simple font might be perfectly readable at a smaller size, while a thin or decorative font may need to be bumped up for clarity.
A lack of contrast between your background and font color (like orange and red) may cause the background to "eat" your font and become difficult to read. Light fonts on a dark background may also pose an issue. Darker ink colors have a tendency to expand into the lighter colors, decreasing the font readability.
Thin fonts can blur, fill in, or lose definition depending on the product and printing surface. What looks sharp on a sticker might fade into the fabric of a shirt or hat. If you're unsure, we always recommend ordering a sample or small order first.
