If your order includes more than one roll of packaging tape, we'll include one sponge for every 2 rolls. So if the order is for 10 rolls, you'll receive 5 sponges.
Our tape is around 240 grade. It's a light/medium-duty grade, reinforced with fiberglass and rated for up to 40lb packages.
Packaging tape is sold by the foot, in quantities of 300 feet (except for the smaller 100-foot roll if you need less than 300 feet). Custom quantities above 300 feet must be placed in multiples of 300 (i.e., 600, 900, 1,200, etc.): Predetermined quantities are divided into rolls of 300 (i.e., 1,500 feet would be 5 rolls of 300 feet): There's no maximum roll quantity per line item except with reorders. On reorders, the maximum quantity is 5,000.
Our custom packaging tape is approved for indirect food contact and can safely be used for the secondary packaging of food products.
It's possible to apply our tape outside freezing conditions (i.e., in standard room temperatures) and then store the boxes in freezing conditions. However, it's not possible to apply the tape in freezing conditions and then store it.
Yes. You can view our packaging tape compliance certificate here. The certificate includes compliance information for PFAS, RoHS, REACH, Prop 65, and other requirements. Please note that this certificate applies only to packaging tape produced in the US.

We recommend a 3" overhang per side. If you're sealing both the top and the bottom of the box, we recommend doubling that number. For example, to seal a 12" box top, you'd need 18". And if you're sealing the box from top to bottom, you'd need 36" of tape. For the total measurement required, take that number and multiply it by the number of boxes needed.
Loading a packaging tape dispenser varies between different models. Below are instructions for each of the four models that we've reviewed. To learn more about these models, you can check out our article on which tape dispensers we recommend. To load a Packer 3s: Slide the roll into the cradle with loose tape towards the back of the dispenser. Weave the tape over the roller, gummed side up, and underneath the entire tape roll. Thread the tape over the water brush and under the blade. Remember to fill the water well before use. For more detailed instructions, please follow the Packer 3S manufacturer's guide. To load a BP 333: Adjust the roll guides to reflect the width of tape so it sits snugly but is not restricted. Place the roll in the basket at the back of the machine and thread the tape over the top roller with the gummed side down. Close the back cover. Feed the tape underneath the metal tape plate. Close the front cover. For more detailed instructions, please follow the BP 333 manufacturer's guide. To load a BP 555: Open the top cover. Adjust tape guides to reflect the width of the tape so it sits snugly but is not restricted. Place roll with loose tape end coming from the bottom reaching towards the back. With the adhesive side closest to the roller, feed tape over the trapeze (bottom to top). Thread tape under the tape guide and under the feed wheel until it stops at the blade. Close the top cover. For more detailed instructions, please follow the BP 555 manufacturer's guide. To load the BP 755: Open the top cover. Place roll with loose tape reaching towards the front with gummed side down. Thread tape underneath the feed wheel but over the roller. Feed tape under the tape plate until it stops at the blade. Close the top cover. To use paper packaging tape, cut a single strip of tape to your desired length. The tape should overlap each side of your box by at least 2 inches. Apply water to the non-printed side of the tape. You can do this by hand using a sponge (included). Place the tape on your box and smooth it over with your hands. Thirty seconds after application, the tape will create a strong bond to your box. For larger quantities, we recommend using a packaging tape dispenser.
Our custom packaging tape is made from white kraft paper and backed by fiberglass strands for strength and durability. We use a water activated adhesive, which bonds tightly with packaging once applied. The tape is 97% biodegradable and can be recycled along with your boxes. Water activated tape (WAT) is a type of packaging tape that uses a water-activated adhesive to bond with cardboard. The best way to apply water activated tape is with a packaging tape dispenser or a sponge (included with all orders). Our packaging tape is made from kraft paper and reinforced by fiberglass strands to keep packages reliably closed, making it a secure packaging alternative. Once applied, water activated tape cannot be unpeeled; it is a natural theft deterrent and exposes any signs of tampering. This type of tape is also called gummed tape, gum tape, or paper tape.
Packaging tape is durable tape used to seal shipping boxes. Our custom packaging tape is made of kraft paper and requires water to activate. It is backed by fiberglass strands for strength and durability. The tape is 2.81 inches wide with 300 feet in one roll. Packaging tape can be printed in full color with any design. Custom packaging tape is a way to add color and personality to plain packaging and works best with cardboard shipping boxes.

Creating your own custom packaging tape design is easy! Our packaging tape is 2.81" wide and repeats itself every 12". For a seamless pattern, your design should be formatted to repeat every 12" or any factor of 12" (2, 3, 4, or 6 inches). While not necessary, you can use our standard packaging tape template to get started. Designs can be formatted in either portrait or landscape. If you need some help or inspiration, we offer free packaging tape templates in Studio, our free online design tool. Alternatively, feel free to send in your artwork as is and note how you'd like your design styled in your instructions. We accept all standard file formats, and we're happy to format everything on our end before sending an online proof for approval.
Our water activated packaging tape is fiberglass reinforced to ensure a strong and secure bond. The fiberglass threads create a slight crisscross pattern on the tapes surface. When any solid color designs are printed, there will be a slight transparency as a result of the fiberglass threads and printing finish. Please take a look at the examples below!
When using custom packaging tape at a high volume, you may want to invest in a packaging tape dispenser. The BP 755 is an electronic tape dispenser. The machine features a low profile design and a large top hatch for easy loading. The water tank is large, but it has a small opening and no sealed cap - this made it difficult to fill up and disassemble without spilling a lot of water. There is a built-in water heater, which can be controlled by lifting up the front hatch. This machine is very easy to setup and use. With the tape loaded and the water tank filled, simply choose your desired length, in inches, and the machine will dispense, wet, and cut a strip of tape. There are automatic versions of the BP 755 available to make things more efficient. At around $1,933, the BP 755 is in the high-range of electronic tape dispensers. Unless the low profile design is an important feature for you, we don’t recommend this dispenser. Despite the higher price tag, the BP 755 is actually less efficient than the BP 555 and doesn’t offer nearly the same amount of features. When using custom packaging tape at a high volume, you may want to invest in a packaging tape dispenser. The BP 555 is an electronic tape dispenser. The machine itself is fairly easy to setup and easy to use. There is a wide opening that makes loading and unloading the tape easy. The water tank is large and has a sealed cap designed to avoid spills. It also features a built-in water heater. The BP 555 dispenses tape at an incredible speed. Each piece is fully coated with water to create a strong bond. The numbers on the left side tell the machine how many inches to cut the tape. There are additional controls which allow you to adjust the length if you need something other than the standard options. There’s also a manual feed button which will dispense the tape until you let go. And with the repeat button, you can simply repeat the last length that was selected. The automatic version of this model can automatically dispense a new piece of tape at the same length once the previous piece is removed. You can also program it to repeat 2 or 3 lengths, if you have something that requires a variety of tape lengths. All automatic versions of the BP 555 are compatible with two optional attachments: The AMD 1 is an automatic measuring device. Using high frequency sound waves, it measures the length of a package, then dispenses the appropriate length of tape, including the flaps - which you can easily program. There’s also an optional foot pedal which works alongside the AMD, to free up your hands when dispensing the tape. At around $1,675, the BP 555 is in the mid-range of electronic tape dispensers. The optional automatic measuring device costs around $260, and the foot pedal costs around $90. The programmable features and the optional attachments make the BP 555 one of the most powerful dispensers on the market. While you might not need every feature it has to offer, it would be hard to find a more efficient dispenser. The high price tag is worth it, if you are doing more than 50 packages per day, and especially worth it if you are working with packages of varying sizes. When using custom packaging tape at a high volume, you may want to invest in a packaging tape dispenser. The BP 333 is another manual tape dispenser. While it’s not as compact as the Packer 3S, it can still be easily moved. The machine itself was a little tricky to setup, but easy to use once we got it going. It features a large capacity water tank which means you’ll be able to dispense plenty of tape before refilling. The water brushes and the pressure plate work together to ensure each strip of tape is fully coated with water - giving your tape maximum sticking power. The tape is easily loaded through the back of the dispenser. The mechanism on the left of the machine, allows you to set a determined length for the tape. To dispense the tape, simply pull down on the lever... and then release to cut it. There is an optional heater attachment you can buy to ensure optimal tape performance - even in cold environments. At $560, the BP 333 is on the higher end of manual tape dispensers. While it isn’t cheap, it is a huge upgrade from both the Packer 3S and the sponge method. And for less than half the cost of an electronic dispenser, the BP 333 gives you great efficiency for a great value. We recommend the BP 333 for anyone doing up to 100 packages per day.
